This volume of poetry spans a decade of living in Ortonville, Minnesota. I live on the vast open prairie in the presence of radical nature, whether that is the storms moving across the sky, the stars at night, or the wildlife that comes into my yard. It is a gift to live in this landscape which brings such creative inspiration to me.
For this project, I wanted the book itself to feel sacred. In imagining how that might artistically translate, I wanted each book cover to be hand pressed. I have long been a fan of the fine art of Malena Handeen. Malena is an established solo exhibiting artist, musician, and farmer. She is the owner and operator of the Loose Tooth Saloon of Art, located in the gardens of Easy Bean Farm in Milan, Minnesota. Through her work farming and balancing her creative life, she describes herself as an “Art Farmer.”
The cover of this book was hand printed by Andy Kahmann of A to Z Letterpress Printing. Andy has been in the printing business for more than 50 years. His letterpress shop is a working museum located next to the public library on Main Street in Montevideo, Minnesota.
The book of poetry is available on Amazon as a downloadable Kindle book. Books are also typically available at events where I am presenting, or contact me directly.
